VegAquarium

The universe makes me laugh sometimes! I've got a funny story for you...

As you know from my previous post, I became somewhat of a vegetarian right after the new year.

(It's January 15th by the way.)

I'm not craving meat like I thought I would.

There are times when the smell of something makes me crave meat, but I it's actually the seasoning that I'm smelling and craving because meat without seasoning is a hard hell to the no-no-no.

So, this weekend, something tickled my funny bone and helped me make an adjustment that feels right to my soul.

What changed, you ask?

Well, my husband willy-nilly decided to run a half marathon (like, what? who does that? Absolutely not for me).

Anyway, we drove down to Hollywood, FL. and stayed at the cutest little hotel on the beach (as you might have seen on my Instagram @aly.kell).

Thanks to a coworker who gives the best restaurant recommendations, we went to dinner at one of the best dive restaurants I've ever been called "Le Tub".

Yep, it's everything "Florida" you could imagine.

Right on the water

Random tchotchkes everywhere

A tree coming through the center of the table that was actually sitting on an old bathtub...

Paper menus with handwritten food items

An orange water cooler for you to get yourself water like you're at soccer practice...

I look at the menu, and I'm like well crap. They're known for their burgers, and I don't think I'm going to feel satisfied here with a salad and a Budweiser.

My body was telling me, "Eat the seafood while you make this change."

I'm teetering back and forth and feeling like a veggie failure, but ultimately, I have to listen to my body.

I went with the fish dip (if you've ordered it in Florida, then you know) and the peel-and-eat shrimp.

It was DELICIOUS.

A perk about eating seafood for me is that I don't feel overly full, bloated or get the meat sweats like I do when eating chicken or red meat, so I left feeling pretty damn good about my decision.

Well, as fate would have it, my universe made a funny.

After dinner, my husband and I go back to the hotel room to wind down since he has to get up with the birds the next morning.

I turn on the TV and see "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives" on the Food Network (I love me some Guy Fieri shows), and I see he's in Fort Lauderdale with none other than the famous Rob Van Winkle (Vanilla Ice).

So Vanilla Ice and Guy Fieri are in the kitchen of some restaurant that's preparing only seafood, and Mr. Fieri says something along the lines of, "You can eat this right? What is it you call yourself?" to Mr. Ice Ice Baby.

"I'm a vegaquarium. I only eat veggies and seafood." he says.

YAAASSSSSS! (Bells ringing, fireworks going off, the Pope is waving, all of the things)

This was my universe telling me to lighten up, and that it's okay to make an adjustment within this new lifestyle change to help me feel my best self.

I know most of you are like, "Aly, you moron, this is called a pescatarian."

Yes, yes, I know, BUT if something makes me laugh and sticks with me like "vegaquarium", I'm using it.

Here I am, in all my glory, DAYS after telling you all that I'm a vegetarian-ish, that I believe I have found what suits my body best.

Hi, my name is Aly, and I'm a vegaquarium.

PUT IT IN YOUR UNIVERSE:

  1. Journal around something that doesn't feel right to you.

  2. What feels sticky? What feels like it's not serving you?

  3. Notice alternative solutions that come up.

  4. Be aware of how your writing changes (do your "i's" become "you's"? It's your angels/higher self/guides talking to you - LISTEN)

  5. Take the inspired action and CHANGE said things and see yourself feeling better.

Don't forget to have fun!
